Visiting Students
Attending a UChicago Summer course offers you the opportunity to get ahead in your studies while experiencing our distinctive academic culture. We offer both online and in-person courses from June through September. Courses are typically 3 to 6-weeks long. Each class is the equivalent of a full quarter-long course and meets for at least 27 contact hours. Because some courses fill quickly, we recommend that you apply early.
The applications opens in January and closes in May 2026.
How to Apply
Go to the application page and
Create your profile (you will be asked to provide your contact details).
Upload your most recent academic College transcript (in English). A 3.0 GPA minimum is required.
When applicable, please explain how you meet the prerequisites in the comment section.
Pay the $75 application fee.
Select the courses you're interested in taking. You may select up to 4 classes.
Visiting students may enroll in up to two courses per session, and up to three classes total.
Listing your desired courses in your application does not automatically register you for those courses, nor does it guarantee seat availability.
Most Summer Session courses are taught remotely. However, a few of them are offered in-person, in Chicago.
Please make sure the instruction days and hours do not overlap.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis from February until mid-May. Applying early may help you secure a spot in courses that fill fast.
How to Accept your Place in the Class
Once you are admitted to Summer Session, you will have one week to accept your offer of admission and pay your $500 non-refundable deposit, which secures your seat in the class(es).
The full balance is due by Monday, June 8. Deposit and balance can be paid via credit card or bank transfer through the application portal.
