MA and PhD students are welcome to take summer classes at UChicago. Note that all Summer Quarter courses are undergraduate level.
Visiting Graduate Students
Visit the application page to create your profile and apply. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis from January until May 15, 2025. Admission decisions are released every two weeks beginning mid-February. Applying early may help you secure a spot in courses that fill fast.
UChicago Graduate Students
Use the course finder to explore the courses that will be offered in Summer and September 2025, and consult with your academic advisor to make Summer part of your graduation plan.
Request self-term activation: review the directions on how to find the Summer Activation Request Form. For full instructions, please visit the Registrar's website.
Self-register in My.UChicago as of Monday, March 31, 2025.
For Summer Language Institute courses, current UChicago MA and PhD students may self-enroll beginning March 31st. Prior to this date, MA and PhD students will be enrolled through their home departments or divisions.
Current or incoming UChicago graduate students wishing to enroll in Summer Language Institute courses that are full must submit the 2025 SLI Waitlist for Graduate Students.

Summer Students Services Fee:
If you term activate for the summer, and choose not to enroll, please email summersession@uchicago.edu to request de-activation and avoid being charged a Summer Students Services Fee.
If you live over 50 miles from campus, you can request to have the Student Services Fee waived. Please visit your My.UChicago account, navigate to Finances and then to myAccount to complete the online waiver form.
