Course Description
This course is an introductory biochemistry course, intended to provide basic knowledge of chemical processes underlying cellular metabolism.
It examines in plants and animals the chemical nature of cellular components, enzyme kinetics, mechanism of enzyme activity, energy interconversions, and biosynthetic reactions, including template-dependent processes and some aspects of metabolic control mechanisms.
The course also includes a laboratory. The aim of the laboratory exercises is to give students an understanding of and appreciation for laboratory research procedures in biochemistry.
Lectures will run 9:00-11:00 am and 1:00-3:00pm. Labs will run from 9:00 am-3:00 pm.
